This book is about an individual that was still living when I was a child. She had the stigmata, the visible wounds of our Lord and Savior. When I purchased the book, I wanted to learn more about her. The book did an excellent job of describing her life in detail.I was particularly moved by her simplicity, love for others, and the fact that she frequently asked God to give others' sufferings to herself. Requests that were frequently granted. She was sought after during her life for healing and for guidance. This simple lady turned no-one away. Another interesting point that the book covered is that she ate nothing except daily "Holy Eucharist". This was confirmed by 24/7 observation.
One most-interesting part of the book was - when some WWII soldiers visited her and asked if the United States would end up being conquered by another power, her answer was frightening (especially in light of current events). Over sixty years ago, she told the soldiers that the United States would be destroyed by poor economics.

This was a truly inspirational and fascinating telling of Therese Neumann's life. I newly discovered this church mystic and stigmata. I could not put this down!!! Her gifts of grace were endless. She suffered unbelievably, but did so joyously for the Glory of God. She lived right in the center of Germany (Konnersreuth) during Hitler's reign; and tens of thousands of American soldiers visited her while serving during the war to be blessed by Therese. She was born the year St. Therese of Liseux passed away and learned of her and loved her much.
